Here one can barely read the "SAR" on the piece I'm holding, the rest of the stone reads "MPBELL."
Sarah Foster was probably born in Cecil County, MD about 1761, she was married twice. Her first marriage was to Samuel Coulter on November 18, 1778, her second marriage was to Samuel Campbell on November 9, 1786. Whether or not she bore any children for Mr. Coulter is unknown, but it is her life with Samuel Campbell that interests me the most, for they were my fourth great grandparents. Both Samuel and Sarah are in First Families of Ohio, First Families of Gallia County, and the Ohio River Valley Pioneers. Sarah passed away in March 12, 1834, and Samuel followed 7 years later in March 7, 1841. Unfortunately, like many other early pioneers their grave markers were of sandstone, and Samuel's is now entirely gone, and Sarah's is eroding away faster and faster with each passing year.
A special thanks goes out to Charles Murray and Dan Blazer for their recording the stones at Hulbert Cemetery back in May of 1976. A record of their recordings can be found in the "Cemeteries of Green Township book published by the Gallia County Historical Society, which is how I found Sarah's grave, and the dates -- for the stone is no longer legible.
It's been 33 years since the stone was read and recorded, and I don't believe the old stone has another 33 years left in it. I'm in hopes of replacing the stone in the next few years. [Click on image for larger view.]

the stone's face as well as two pieces of stone that have fallen off. One piece reads "SAR" for Sarah, and the other is the letter "b" probably for body.
Actual text probably read something to the effect of: "Here lies the body of Sarah Campbell who died the 12th of March 1834 in the 73 year of her age."
These are her known descendants, though there are plenty more, no doubt.
1. Elisha Campbell d. April 20, 1845 married Mary w/o Elisha. Gallia County Marriages show she was Mary Waddle, whom he married in 1826. There is a Mary Campbell in the 1850 census living in Green Twp., and old enough to be his wife. She had the following children. Margaret N. Campbell age 23, Nancy Campbell age 16, Samuel Campbell age 14, Sarah Campbell age 9, and Lydia Campbell age 8.
2. Nancy Campbell Graham d. June 16, 1846 (Hulbert Cemetery Marker.) wife of James (Gallia County Chancery Record) married February 13, 1817 (Gallia County Marriage Records) children according to 1850 census (Green Twp., Gallia Ohio.) William Graham age 31, Almira Graham age 28, Elenor Graham age 23, Ruben F. Graham age 22, James Graham age 19, Lorenzo Graham age 17, and Charles Graham age 14.
3. Elijah F. Campbell b. abt. 1799 d. between 1850 and 1860 census wife Nancy Sawyer(s)
4. James Campbell [dec'd in 1842] all children living in Indiana in 1842. Children according to court document were: Rachel Waddell husband's name Alexander. According to Gallia County Marriages they were married Oct. 2, 1831, John Campbell, Sarah Campbell, Margarite Young ("wife of" left blank on original document), Nancy Shoemaker ("wife of" left blank on original document), Samuel Campbell, William Campbell, and the last three were minors Jane, Mary and Elijah Campbell.
5. Margaret Campbell her children according to the Chancery document were: David Rees, Andrew Rees, Grizzy Rees, Sarah and Campbell Rees.
